The SCS Child Care Program was first introduced at the Burnham Building in 1984.
This program has since expanded to seven sites with locations at: Central, Highland, Hill View, Maplewood and Whiteford for grade 1-6; and at Northview H.S. and Woodrow for two Preschool locations.
Mission StatementIt is the mission of the Sylvania Community Services (SCS) Child Care Department to provide quality care to children including social, emotional, intellectual and physical opportunities for their development.Our ProgramsSylvania Community Services (SCS for short) provides quality Child Care year round
for the Sylvania Community. All programs are state licensed and all programs are
Pay-Only-When-You-Stay. Extended Time (E.T. for short) is designed for children in grades K through 6. Care
is available before school beginning at 6:30 AM until school begins, and after school
until 6:30 PM.

Child Care is provided by SCS at Tam-O-Shanter when schools are on holiday breaks,
delayed or cancelled because of weather and when schools are closed for parent-teacher
conferences. Pre-planned programs are pre-pay and available to families currently registered
in our regular Child Care programs.
formerly held at the Burnham building SCS provides summer day camp for children Grades K-6. Daily swimming at Plummer Pool, structured activities and basic fun is provided! Field trips, art projects, and guest visitors help round out the fun. A packed lunch is needed. We provide a morning and afternoon snack.
Northview Preschool for ages 3-5 This site offers an early childhood development center for children ages 3 to 5 years that includes a
curriculum based 2.5 hour preschool with accompanying care Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
This preschool is a joint venture of Sylvania Schools Career Technology Department and Sylvania Community
Services. SCS provides full staffing for this program. As a training site for high school students studying
Early Childhood Development, the children have the benefit of much individualized attention. A packed lunch
is needed. We provide a morning and afternoon snack. Northview preschool follows a school year calendar
and is closed when school is closed. Daily and weekly rates are available with one day per week minimum
fee required.
